Paris day 2:
It was sunday, so we decided to go to mass at the Notre Dame and hear the organ and choir. So we traveled the metro down to the Cite stop, which feels like its miles underground! We happened upon the Bird, Fish and Orchid(...and Bunny) Market on the island. It was really cute, but there were also lots of shady characters standing around. Which made it seem like there was some more demonic black market aspect to the Bunny and Bird selling. As if buying a yellow parakeet really meant you were buying a kilo of coke and perhaps a cockatoo was a lung. And the small animal exchange was just a front to let the money switch hands...But that could just all be my imagination. We made our way to the Notre Dame and then wandered through the Latin Quarter and St. Garman des Pres looking for a hotel for me to stay in on my days alone. We did more tea hopping and ended up taking the metro to Place de la Concorde. We wandered through Place Venvome where theres an incredibly phallic looking green tower thats really famous, but I can never remember the name, AND where Chanel's store was(/ is because one is still there) and then towards the Paris Opera house. We had dinner, more precisely the best french onion soup in France and the best dessert, creme brulee and tarte tatin (which is SUPER fun to say!) at Le Tambour on Rue Montmartre in the Republique. If you wan't an amazing french dinner for not a HUGE dolla, go there! It will not disappoint!
Anyway here's some photo evidence of day 2 in Paris:

| Joan is my homegirl...or more precisely my confirmation name. |

Shakespeare and Co. A beautiful book store that's all in English! Hooray!!
I was enchanted by this store.... thus all of the photos |
| Apparently, the people who work there do an exchange of work for a place to sleep. Theres cots all over up stairs, along with the piano and the reading room. Its pretty rad. |
| St. Michael! |
| You can always tell the class of a neighborhood by the state of the recycling pod. Needless to say, this is quite the schnazzy street. |
Place de la Concorde
You can see basically every major french monument if you stand in the middle and just turn around in a circle. Thats what I recommend for a 30 sec tour of Paris. |
Are we in Cairo? No! were in France!!
| this is where everyone lost their heads.... poor Marie... |
