Nightmare Before Christmas

I spent Halloween Sunday with my sister, her husband and my niece in Malahide with their friends who have two adorable little girls. Now, Malahide is like the desperate housewives county of Dublin. It was a really cute and tiny suburb, in which all the houses looked the same and everyone literally knew each other. I'm not exaggerating; we went trick-or-treeting with everyone and it was obvious we were the randos. I had so much fun playing with the kids and meeting Sarah's friends.

We set off a chinese lantern, which was one of the most awesome things I've ever seen. Its basically a huge paper bag that you turn upside down, light a fire in and it floats away. There was something so satisfying about sending something out floating away into the night sky; watching the light shrink smaller and smaller until it disappears.

OH! The other thing about Malahide is that it's where U2 (well its respective members) grew up. On the taxi ride back a U2 song came on the radio and it wasn't until we were at the train station that Damien told me how excited he was that I had just had such an "authentic moment."

We may have come very very very close to burning down the neighbor's house.

Yep, my 12 year old niece is totally as tall as me... AND she's dressed like a bat! We had a running joke that since bats are blind and use echolocation, she had to cover her eyes, run around and yell "AHH WHERE AM I WHERE ARE YOU AHHH" in order to get anywhere. Sarah hated me a little for that, but it was great!
Hahaha I love them dearly.
Post knocking on neighbor's doors, heading into the candy coma ... and so cute!

BOO!
